The RxDefine platform provides a patient with the technology necessary to receive an evaluation for a medical condition using telemedicine.
A consultation begins with a medical questionnaire. The questionnaire is built using clinical guidelines built by board-certified medical professionals. The flow allows a patient to provide more details on their condition and medical history, which assists the clinician during consultation. Some questionnaires will also allow patients to upload images of their condition. Once the questionnaire is complete, a patient is asked to set up their profile.
In the profile, a patient can add their basic health information like sex, date of birth, height, and weight. The platform also verifies the patient’s email. Once email is verified, the platform also verifies a patient’s identity.
A patient is asked to upload a photo ID (like a driver's license) and a selfie. This is to ensure the patient is 18 years or older and is a resident of a state eligible for telemedicine. If there are issues with ID verification, the RxDefine team may ask a patient to provide more identification.
Once a patient profile has been created, RxDefine enables a patient to choose a method to fill their medication should the consultation result in a prescription. There are two shipping methods: home delivery and local pharmacy pickup.
If a patient elects home delivery, a patient’s prescription is routed to a mail-order pharmacy. The mail-order pharmacy fills the prescription and also arranges payment for the medication. Depending on the condition, the mail-order pharmacy may also adjudicate payments with an individual’s health insurance.
Local pharmacy pickup
If a patient elects local pharmacy, the prescription is routed to a participating local pharmacy of a patient’s choice. The local pharmacy fills the prescription and also adjudicates payments with a patient’s health insurance.
Note: a medical prescription is only offered if a board-certified clinician approves the use of prescription medication as a treatment option for a patient.
Next, a patient should complete payment for the telemedicine consultation.
RxDefine consultations are offered at a low out-of-pocket cost* and are available to any patient, regardless of insurance coverage. Please note that payment is just for consultation and not a payment for prescription medication.
*The price of the consultation varies per condition.
Once payment is submitted, a patient’s consultation is submitted for review by a board-certified clinician. The clinician evaluates the patient’s chart and may schedule a follow-up video call in order to confirm a diagnosis and provide treatment options. Should the clinician need to schedule a video call, the patient will receive email notifications from RxDefine with instructions to login to the RxDefine platform to schedule a call.
Once a clinician is confident with the outcome of the consultation, they will take steps to offer treatment to the patient, which may include prescription medication.
The clinician also reserves the right to refer out a patient to a local provider should the practitioner feel the patient requires a more extended evaluation by an in-person clinic.
Please note that undergoing a telemedicine consultation is no guarantee of prescription medication.
